The Work of Reedification

Not starting over. Rebuilding with intention.

What’s Good Friend!

It’s March. My birthday month. Women’s History Month.

A month that always makes me pause a little longer than usual.

There’s something about this season that feels both reflective and forward-facing at the same time. Maybe it’s getting older. Maybe it’s honoring the women who built before me. Maybe it’s simply the awareness that growth isn’t just about adding years… it’s about adding wisdom.

And I’ve been sitting with a word lately… Reedification.

Not reinvention. Not starting from scratch. Not scrapping everything and pretending none of it happened.

Reedification.

If I’m honest, I think I stepped into this phase in 2025. Last year wasn’t about acceleration for me. It was about assessment. It was about looking at what I had built; internally, professionally, relationally, and asking myself, “Is this aligned with who I am showing up as?”

Birthdays have a way of forcing that question. So does legacy. So does womanhood.

Some things were solid. Some things needed reinforcement.

And some things… needed to come down completely.

And as we step into this month, a month about women, about history, about continuation… I can’t help but think about how many times we are called to rebuild. Not because we failed. But because we evolved.

And that’s where I am. Not starting over. Rebuilding with intention.

Rebuilding With Integrity

You don’t rebuild to be seen.

You rebuild to be solid.”

- Shakeyla M. Ingram

Reedification is the act of rebuilding something that once stood, but doing it with greater clarity, stronger foundation, and deeper understanding.

Some parts of our lives don’t need to be replaced. They need to be reinforced. And some parts? They need to be removed so what remains can stand honestly.

That’s the part we don’t talk about enough. Reedification requires demolition first. Not destruction for drama. But removal for integrity.

For me, March feels like standing in the middle of that process.

The dust has settled.

The blueprint is clearer.

The urgency is gone.

Now it’s time to build, intentionally.

Reedification is slower than reinvention. It’s quieter. It doesn’t get applause. It doesn’t trend. But it’s steady. It’s mature. It’s disciplined.

It says:

I don’t need to prove I’ve changed.

I need to prove I’ve learned for myself.

Maybe you’re not trying to become someone new.

Maybe you’re trying to become someone sturdier.

More honest.

More aligned.

More intentional.

Reedification asks better questions.

Not: “What do I want people to see?”

But: “What can actually hold weight?”

Not: “What’s impressive?”

But: “What’s sustainable?”

This month, especially in a season that honors women who rebuilt entire systems with limited resources and unlimited resilience, I’m reminded that real strength isn’t loud. It’s layered.

MY INTERNAL AUDIT

What in your life right now needs reinforcement, not reinvention? OR if you want to sit with it a little deeper:

  • What needs removal before expansion?

  • Where have I mistaken visibility for stability?

  • What foundation must be strengthened before I grow again

Don’t rush this, you need to move from reading to processing.

Rising Star… April Day

Before I close, I have to take a moment to celebrate someone who means a great deal to me.

Oh April… what an honor it was to witness you be named a Rising Star in the Fayetteville–Cumberland County area at the Blueprint Awards.

Seeing the work you are fiercely and intentionally leading for Black Artist Forward recognized in that way felt personal. Because I know what it takes. I know the late nights. The vision casting. The hard conversations. The quiet faith it requires to build something for our people who haven’t always had access or opportunity.

What you’re doing isn’t going unnoticed. It’s making impact. It’s shifting culture. It’s creating real space for Black artists to be seen, funded, and celebrated in their own city.

And to witness you walk in it; confidently, boldly, unapologetically… yassss girl! It does something to my heart.

You deserve this recognition. And if I know anything, it’s that this is only the beginning.

Keep building.

Keep leading.

Keep shining.

Keep smiling.

With so much pride,

Reedification is sacred work.

You don’t have to rush the rebuild. What is rebuilt with intention will stand with integrity.

This month, I’m not focused on reinvention. I’m focused on reinforcement.

Because what is built with clarity, discipline, and integrity doesn’t just stand… it sustains.

So… if you’re rebuilding quietly right now, know: it’s okay to restructure somethings… You’re strengthening your internal infrastructure. We need a lil life tune up here an there!

And just know… that kind of work? Unshakeable!

Until next time :)

With love + intention,
